Quickly, I woke up on Friday morning, today grade 2MK was going to the Marine Discovery Center. I felt tired and excited at the same time. We went to the Marine Discovery Center by bus and it was a fun and interesting excursion. We went there to learn about our topic ‘Under the Sea’.
Firstly, we walked into a small room with different things. There were shells, a big turtle on the ceiling, a tank with an 11 armed sea star, 2 crabs and a zebra fish, a small square tank with a 5 armed sea star and some tables with different things on them.
In that same room we talked and made a rock pool. We talked about the big turtle on the ceiling, then we made the rock pool. Our class had to split up into groups, go to a table, grab something from it that lived in a rock pool and sit on the floor. Once we had done that we hid them in the rock pool.
Secondly, grade 2MK went into another bigger room. When we got in there we had a look at the seahorses. We also saw what the seahorses ate. We got to explore for 10 minutes then, we went to the touch tank. I touched a sea star, sea apple and seaweed.
It was awesome! What a great day. I want to go there again.

Excitedly, I woke up on Friday morning, today we were going to the Marine Discovery Center.
When I got to school I put down my school bag and waited for the bell, “Ding”, there it went. I put my bag in my locker and started working on my poster.
The poster had to ahve a heading about ‘pollution’ and then we had to draw a picture. We had to do this because they wanted to display the best poster which will be put up in the Marine Center.
My class saw all different things such as; crustaceans, animals, shells and sea weeds. I like the sea horses and sea stars, the crabs were cool too.
2MK watched a movie about a seahorse having babies. They were gorgeous and tiny. One fact I would like to share is the sea horse having the babies has to have heaps because only around 5 survive.
At the moment I want to go again. It was great!

This week it is Morrside’s turn for us to visit them and look at their blog. Make sure you leave them a comment. If you scroll down their blog on the ‘All blogs’ page you will see the classes individual student blogs. Don’t for get to leave them a comment too!
This week we are visiting Class 3′s blog. They are located in the UK. Their school is very different to ours. Can you read some of their comments and see why they are so different. List the reasons in your comment. Have fun and try and start a conversation.
For our Quad Blogging project we are going to do a problem solving activity each week.
***************************************
Our Problem Solving Activity is you are a farmer taking a fox, a chicken and a sack of grain to market and you come actoss a river. The only way across the river is by a small boat, which can only hold at most you and one of the three items. Left alone, the chicken will eat the grain or the fox will eat the chicken (however, the fox won’t try to eat the grain, nor will the fox or the chicken wander off) What’s the quickest way to get everything across the river?
You could draw a picture, make a model or make a table to work this problem out, have a go!
****************************************
If your having trouble you might want to look at this interactive website which you can do as a whole class.
This week we are looking at how to write a high quality comment.
We are taking part in a project called Quad Blogging and we want to leave our new friends the best comments we can.
Have a look below at the points below.

How to write a good comment:
1.Start with an opening such as- hi, hello, dear, @ or to.
2. Leave a compliment such as- ‘I enjoyed reading your blog because…’ or ‘your information is really informing, I learnt’ or ‘I like your ideas because…’
3. Share some information with them that is specific about the topic you are talking about.
4. Ask them a specific question about the topic you are talking about. Try and get a conversation going.
5. End with a closing such as- from, greetings, love, best wishes, bye.
6. Edit your work. Check for capitals and full stops and have you used paragraphs to make your comment easy to read?
Leopold Primary is the best school in the world. It is a large school with many friendly students and teachers that display so much passion for learning.
Firstly, Leopold Primary has 5 adventure play grounds for the students to play on during recess or lunch time. They are such good playgrounds that students even play on them after school. We have bridges that lead into slides, monkey bars and climbing frames for students to play on. One of the play grounds is made for fitness
Secondly, we have the best resources. Leopold Primary school is well known for having the latest technology. These include an interactive white board in all 31 classrooms, as well as 5 computers in each of these. Some classrooms also have ipods and ipads to use in their grade.
Thirdly, all the teachers are very nice and friendly. They choose fun activities to do and in our class. We get to do Cafe 5 which means we can select whatever Literacy activity we would like to do. It is lots of fun having the choice rather than being told what to do. Our grade also gets to do lots of hands on activities when we are taking part in Maths lessons.
Leopold is the best school in the world. It has wonderful teachers and students. The inside and outside resources are outstanding as well as the programs that the school runs.
